I have always had a full head of hair and I took it for granted until I got the perm that made most of my hair fall out. Ever since then, I've been using my own proprietary mixture to keep my hair growing long and strong. Most of us have styled and cut and dyed our hair until it has begged for mercy and ended up in a protective style, but how many of us have fully gotten our hair to bounce back? I have and I'm now ready to share that oil with you.
The base of the product is castor oil because it has really high levels of ricinoleic acid which makes it be an amazing treatment for damaged hair. It is also packed with Vitamin E, Omega 6 & 9 fatty acids, minerals and proteins that make it be one of the best possible carrier oils for the job. Just think, I used to be afraid of castor oil when I was little because it was so thick, but it's just an amazing oil and I didn't know any better. Rosehip Seed Oil is a non-greasy oil that is a wonderful source of Vitamin A which keeps the root of the hair from drying out. Sweet Almond Oil helps keep hair shiny and interacts well with castor oils consistency, using them together is an ancient technique that comes straight from Egypt. Using Avocado Oil in addition boosts this mixture with Vitamin B which is essential for hair growth.
Aside from the base, there are a few essential oils that I use in this tonic that kick it up a notch. The first essential oil I use is Tea Tree Oil because it actively helps unclog hair follicles, treat bacteria and remove dead skin from your scalp, all of which can cause hair thinning and loss. Unclogging hair follicles is one of the only ways to thicken hair as the size of your follicles determines the thickness of the hair that comes out of it. Be careful of products that claim to dramatically increase the thickness of your hair strands because that's just not a thing. One oil that people are completely sleeping on is Ylang Ylang because it controls the production of sebum and over production of sebum (oily scalp) is a very common reason for hair loss. After all, what good does it do to grow hair if it's just going to fall out because it's not taken care of? Absolutely none.
Now one thing about essential oils, or topical products as a whole is that they aren't applied properly majority of the time. They are left sitting on the surface to be wiped away by a pillowcase or scarf etc. This is the reason for adding peppermint essential oil to the mix. Peppermint helps your skin absorb other oils which is amazing, but you can feel it happening when that cooling sensation takes over no matter how brief. The final touch on this product is Aloe Vera gel which actively helps repair skin cells in the scalp using it's natural proteolytic enzymes. As a bonus, Aloe Vera acts as a natural conditioner and leaves your hair smooth. Jojoba Oil is added as a preservative but also increases the lubrication of the hair follicles without adding a greasy residue.
To see results using this oil, you must apply it a minimum of 5 days out of the week. When applying it, I suggest massaging it in the scalp for a minimum of 30 seconds to increase the skins absorption rate. This will ensure that your follicles actually get the nourishment from the oil prior to wearing a bonnet or tying a scarf around your head. Remember that these are all oils and that you only need to dab the dropper for one or two drops, squeezing the dropper will apply way too much product and is unnecessary. While the massage definitely helps for night time application, putting it on your problem areas about an hour or so before bed is still optimal. While results may vary, expect to see them in 6-8 weeks. I highly suggest taking a before picture to compare the results at the end of the bottle.
